Noses Bear the Brunt of Parental Injuries Caused by Kids

Ouch! Nose injuries hurt!

A couple weeks ago the back of my toddler’s head collided with my nose. I had been laying down playing with her on the bed, and she decided to do a free fall onto my face. I heard a “crack” sound, and my nose turned purple and swelled. From talking to friends and through readers’ comments it seemed this type of injury was pretty common. This led me to develop last week’s poll question: “Which body parts, inflicted by your child, have you injured?”

Voters could choose multiple answers. Noses sustained the most injuries – not surprising considering it sticks out and parents’ faces often come into close contact with their kids whether it’s through cuddling or rough house play.

Poll results:
Noses 67%
Eyes – 44%
Hands – 44%
Mouth – 44%
Feet – 33%
Head – 33%
Shoulders – 22%
Other – 22%
Knees – 11%

The results indicate that parents’ faces overall suffered injuries the most. All parents can do is to be aware. I know I certainly will be more careful in the future!

Note: Poll was open for one week. Poll was not scientific.
