Whenever I feel stressed out, I organize. There’s something
about knowing where things are that seems to make life feel less chaotic.
When I lived in New
York City years ago I would shop at The Container Store. I remember purchasing
clear plastic bins for each pair of shoes, and these still keep me organize today.
I moved to Long Island after getting marriage
and then I had a baby. With life even more hectic as a busy working mom,
organization often fell by the wayside.
That’s why I was excited to hear of a The Container Store opening
its doors in Long Island on August 11, 2012.
Known for its collection of simple yet sophisticated storage and organization
products, the newest store is located at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza
near Roosevelt Field Mall.
I was unable to attend the blogger event earlier today, but
did make it to the Grand Opening party tonight. Thousands from the community,
including its own employees bused in from various areas throughout New York, descended upon
the new store.

The event showcased the spacious store with open layouts and
clean, beautiful displays. To keep the party festive, scattered through the
store were lavish appetizers and drinks as well as a band and a dance floor. The
Container Store Chairman and CEO, Kip Tindell, made a speech to welcome guests,
and partygoers mingled and surveyed the collections.

Perusing the aisles, I made mental notes of all the items I
could use to keep my home tidy. I admired the modern and functional storage
solutions that were available in an impressive range of colors and materials.
While there I met Sharon Clarke, a Board Member of the Women’s Fund of Long Island. She
informed me that 10% of Grand Opening sales this weekend at the Westbury store
will be donated to this non-profit group which empowers women and girls. It’s
great to know that our purchases at The Container Store will help this
well-deserved organization.
The party doesn’t end tonight - the Grand Opening weekend is
offering many exciting activities. Prizes will be given away every hour, on the
hour, including a $1,000 elfa Space Makeover on both days. In addition,
customers who spend $100 at the Westbury store between August 11-26 will
receive a $15 gift card to use between September 1-23.
Stop by Westbury, Long Island
this weekend to experience the Grand Opening of The Container Store and pick up
essential organizational and storage items!
