BurgerFi All Natural Burgers Expands in Long Island, New York
Disclosure: I received a complimentary tasting to review BurgerFi. All opinions are my own.
Have you ever bitten into a burger and had a “Wow” moment – you know, the kind where you’re thinking, “Burger, where have you been all my life?” That moment happened to me during my first-ever visit to Long Island’s newest BurgerFi restaurant in Commack, New York.
In celebration of the restaurant’s opening on October 19, I had the opportunity to do a tasting. Paul Lombardozzi, Northeast Corporate Restaurant Operations Manager, welcomed me to the new 3,000-square-foot restaurant which has a seating capacity for approximately 80 patrons inside their dining room and patio seating for 20. The spotless restaurant with modern decor includes nods to its “farm to tray” philosophy with meat hook light fixtures and an earth-friendly philosophy that applies not only to its facilities but also to its food.
Eco-friendly elements include wood panel walls made from the most renewable timber available (Number 2 Southern pine lumber), two sleek 10-ft fans that consume 88% less energy, 100% recycled paper countertops, 100% energy efficient LED lighting, and tables and chairs made from upcycled Coca-Cola bottles and milk jugs.
BurgerFi’s food options stay committed to its environmentally-friendly outlook. The restaurant ensures its high-quality beef contains no hormones, steroids, antibiotics, chemicals, or additives. BurgerFi uses Angus beef, known for its superior taste and texture that is humanely-raised and sustainably farmed.
With all this in mind, Lombardozzi brought me a variety of items to sample. He noted that they made all toppings and sauces in-house, and some burgers contained a secret mayonnaise-based BurgerFi special sauce.
The first burger I tried was the Breakfast All Day Burger. I immediately noticed its branded bun – as in literally branded with a hot iron brander that read, “BURGERFI”. I bit into the burger, and that’s when I had my “Wow” moment. The yolk of the fried egg gently split to reveal runny, creamy delicious yolk that melded with the juicy Angus patty, hash brown (homemade), bacon, maple syrup, American cheese, grilled onions, and ketchup.
I ate half to save room for the other burgers and washed it down with Mexican Coke, known for its slightly sweeter taste due to its natural sugar cane ingredient. Patrons have other beverage choices as well including local craft beers and wines, hundreds of soda fountain combinations, and creamy shakes.
Next I tasted The CEO, a double Wagyu and Brisket blend burger topped with homemade candied bacon-tomato jam, garlic truffle aioli sauce, and aged Swiss cheese. This burger really is the boss, easily commanding respect from burger lovers like me with its juicy deliciousness and tenderness.
I took a break from the burgers to try the Cry + Fry. This delectable side dish featured hand-cut fries and double-battered onion rings with a variety of homemade sauces. I bit into the crunchy large onion rings with perfectly-cooked onion inside. What a delight! I also enjoyed the crisp fries topped with a Parmesan-herb sauce.
The last burger in my tasting was the VegeFi burger. This was not some random frozen burger mass produced and sold in the grocery store. This was BurgerFi’s own proprietary recipe which included crispy quinoa, fresh-cut veggie patty, white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and BurgerFi Sauce on a multigrain bun. Patrons also have the option to go “Green Style,” or with lettuce leaves in lieu of a bun. Unlike many standard veggie burgers, I found this one to be juicy and “burger-like” in texture.
Additional menu items include Vienna beef hot dogs with fixings, other burgers (cheeseburger, hamburger, bacon cheeseburger, Conflicted Burger with beef and veggies patties), and custards (floats, shakes, concretes, and cups). A Kid’s Menu with entrée, side, and drink costs only $6.97 – a very family-friendly price!
