Let’s be honest, our evening meal can get repetitive and boring at times. We can all get stuck in the routine where we are serving the same meals, face the same battles and objections from our children, and get a little disheartened by the food we serve. But mealtimes should be about coming together as a family or at least enjoying the food we are preparing and making. Here are some tips to enhance the food we eat to make mealtimes more interesting and enjoyable.
Try New Kitchen Tools
Sometimes using different tools in the kitchen can help make the cooking experience more enjoyable. They can help to create different textures of food or even enhance the flavors. Of course, no one wants to fill their whole kitchen with gadgets, but here are a few to consider. First up a pressure cooker. Looking online will easily identify the best pressure cooker to invest in. This is a gadget than can significantly reduce cooking time while maintaining a huge level of flavor within the ingredients. Other things to consider are a blender, mixer, steamer, and slow cooker (one of my favorite go-to kitchen items).
Get Inspiration from Different Recipes
Sometimes simply looking through recipe books or browsing the internet can identify great meals to try. We get use to eating the same meal week after week, but then we become complacent with a cooking style or the type of foods we eat. It may seem daunting at first, but trying new things can often inspire us to keep trying and explore more elevated recipes and techniques.
Don’t Be Afraid to Try New Ingredients
Often there are ingredients we are just too scared to try. We may be unsure on how to cook the ingredients or understand what their used for. But like I say to my kids, “You never know if you’ll like it if you don’t try it.” So why not try something new each week? It may be a nice surprise to see how it could diversify mealtimes.
Get More Involved in Meal Planning
Meal planning is a great way to up the game with mealtime choices. It requires a little forward thinking, but it can also take away meal time and may even save money with food shopping bills. Try surrounding yourself with recipe books and decide what to cook each night. It may even be worth getting the family and children involved. This way they may be a little more inclined to try the meals since they were part of the planning process.
I hope these tips and tricks help to enhance your food at mealtimes for your whole family.
