This is our last weekend before school starts, so we’re making the most of it. Between playdates, visiting grandma, and just hanging out with the family, our active kids are on-the-go. One of the things they love to do the most is to help mama make things, include snacks and meals.
For a quick pick-me-up drink this afternoon, we made Nutty Banana Strawberry Smoothies. This smoothie is so easy to make, with just a handful of ingredients. I love the versatility of this drink. With fresh fruit, dairy, and a bit of protein, this beverage is perfect not only as an afternoon snack but also for breakfast.
It’s easy to create varieties of this smoothie. Have extra fruit laying around? Throw them in. We had some blueberries that needed to be used up so we added those. The recipe suggests using Strawberry Banana Juicy Juice® 100% Juice. However, we used Berry Juicy Juice® 100% Juice because that’s what we had on hand. For the nutty flavor, feel free to use not only peanut butter, but also other nut butters such as almond or cashew. For those allergic to nuts, omit the nut butter.
The smoothie was a hit! Both my girls drank it and asked for more. Hubby and myself had some, too. The flavors complimented one another very well including the hint of nuttiness. Smoothies are a great way to get kids to consume more fruits. Try this recipe for an easy and delicious treat for the whole family!
